Common Cold

Catarrh is a disorder of inflammation of the mucous membranes. It can result in a thick exudate of mucus and white blood cells caused by the swelling of the mucous membranes in the head in response to an infection. It is a symptom usually associated with the common cold and chesty coughs, but can also be found in patients with infections of the adenoids, middle ear, sinus or tonsils. The phlegm produced by catarrh may either discharge or cause a blockage which may become chronic.

Causes:

  • Catarrh is the excess mucus which occurs with many different nasal, throat, tracheal and bronchial infections; for example, croup and whooping cough.

Symptoms:

  • Runny nose.
  • Headaches.
  • Postnasal drip.
  • Sore throat.
  • Sinusitis.
  • Gastritis.
  • Glue ear syndrome, and respiratory problems.

Diagnosis:

Vitamins A, B, complex, C, and bioflavonoids are important. Also needed are calcium, magnesium, and potassium. Helpful herbs include chickweed, mullein, plantain, sorrel, white oak bark, bayberry bark, comfrey, eucalyptus leaves, white pine needles, and oregano.

Ingredients:

  1. Agarwood.
  2. Milk.
  3. Sesame oil.
  4. Liquorice.
  5. Terminalia bellirica.

Natural Remedies:

  • Sesame oil is a source of vitamin E. Vitamin E is an anti-oxidant and has been correlated with lowering cholesterol levels. Sesame oil has a high percentage of polyunsaturated fatty acids (omega-6 fatty acids)—but it is unique in that it keeps at room temperature. Sesame oil is one of the few oils recommended for use in oil pulling.
  • Liquorice herb (Glycyrrhiza Glabra) has been used extensively in Chinese herbal medicine for thousands of years, in approximately half of their formulas. The reason given is that it tends to improve the action of all the other herbs and ‘harmonise’ the action of the herbal formula.
  • Take some Agar woods, add some water. After that ,  filter that water. Then take Liquoric, Skin of Terminalia bellirica and grind with 1 spoon of milk, 1 spoon of sesame oil and Agar wood water. Now apply on your head.
